It comes after B&M shut several of its locations for good last year including branches in Stockton, Newport and Bristol.

The Sun has a handy guide to all the B&M closures that have taken place this year.

However, the retailer is very much open for business and is looking to expand.

Below, is a full list of B&M store openings and relocations.

It comes after it already opened a new store in Irvine, Scotland, on August 12.

  • Southport (August 16)
  • Glasgow (August 26) – relaunch
  • Reading (Aug 28) – relocation
  • Switch Island, Liverpool – (September 9) – relaunch
  • Eastbourne (September 14)
  • Stockton (September 14)
  • Leven Garden Centre (September 20) – garden centre only
  • Hinkley (September 23)
  • Wigan (September 29)
  • Newbury (October 7)
  • Gateshead (October 28) – relaunch

B&M is not the only discounter that is expanding its number of stores.

Poundland has recently confirmed that it is opening 15 stores across the UK.

TK Maxx is also reportedly looking for new locations as part of expansion plans.

And Poundstretcher recently revealed plans to bring 50 new shops to the high street before the end of the year.

But, unfortunately, it isn’t all good news for the high street.

Bargain retailer Wilko collapsed into administration last week putting 400 stores and 12,500 jobs at risk.

The clock is ticking and any interested parties need to issue a rescue offer by “close of business” today.

Administrators at PwC have given potential buyers the end of Wednesday to make any indicative offers.

It’s then expected to whittle down a shortlist for second-round bids by Friday.

Rival discounters like B&M and Home Bargains have succeeded in out-of-town locations.

But most of Wilko’s stores are located on the high street, where shoppers tend to buy less and rents are higher, making them less appealing to any potential buyer.
