The B&M store in Maesglas Retail Park in is set to close its doors to make way for the future demolition of the out of town shopping centre.

Shoppers have spotted a sale at the store with huge discounts and some items for as little as 10p.

One shopper on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group said: “Our local B&M is closing and had 75% off everything! The Christmas stuff was all 10p.

“Newport, South Wales (the one opposite TKMaxx) I went in looking for wallpaper but it was like walking into an empty shop – no wallpaper but lots of beds, shelves and other furniture. Mega chuffed!”

Another shopper said: “I got a TV unit, two side tables and a coffee table all for £30 and it was all 75% off.”

It’s not the first time that B&M has hosted the major discounts before closing down stores.

B&M slashed prices by as much as 75% before it shut up shop on Southgate Street in Gloucester in July last year.

There were similar discounts at a B&M store located in Rugby’s Clock Towers Shopping Centre when it closed in 2021.

And before that shoppers from Slough benefitted from a similar price cut frenzy as a separate closing down sale took affect at a B&M store in the area.

We’ve asked B&M if a new store will be opening near by and will update the story when we hear back.

It comes just days after B&M closed its Stockton store in the Castlegate Shopping Centre.

But the closure makes way for the store’s relocation to a much bigger unit in Stockton town centre – although the exact location of the new store is yet be confirmed.

B&M will also be closing its existing Kilmarnock store in Queens Drive Retail Park on March 26.

The closure comes after the discount retailer recently opened a brand new Kilmarnock store at Units 3 – 5, Glencairn Retail Park on February 4.

Meanwhile, Bristol is losing its B&M shop in Broadwalk Shopping Centre in early April.

We’ve also asked B&M if the store will be replaced in a new area of the city and if there will be similar discounts in store and will update when we hear back

B&M is also opening new stores on also expanding its presence on the high street in some areas.

Scunthorpe’s Debenhams store in North Lincolnshire Shopping Park it to be take over by B&M – which will relocate from a much smaller unit within the same retail park.

B&M is also opening a brand new store and garden centre in Barnsley on March 4.

We’ve listed all of the shops and chains closing down this year.

How can I save money at B&M?

While a closing down sale offers big discounts on already bargain prices, there are still ways to save at B&Ms more than 600 stores that remain open.

The B&M barcode scanner app allows you to discover discounted items before the staff have even reduced them.

The scanner is located on the B&M Stores mobile app, which can be downloaded for free on your smartphone.

Shoppers can download it on the App Store or Google Play.

Once you’ve got the app, click on the “scan” button at the bottom of your homepage.

This will then bring up the camera on your smartphone, which you’ll need to use to scan barcodes.

When you’ve found a product you want to scan, simply point your smartphone camera toward its barcode.

The app will then automatically bring up the item’s price – this is when you’ll know if it is reduced or not.

Bargain hunters say some items come up as £1, 50p or even 10p through the app.

Shoppers should also keep an eye out for products with a white reduction sticker on.

This means they will have a certain amount slashed off the price shown on the label.
