While hoping to find an apartment to rent, this Reddit user instead stumbled across a baffling bathroom design.

Sharing images of the peculiar room, they explained the owner of the studio apartment had seemingly attempted to utilise every inch of space.

The landlord had crammed a toilet, sink and shower in the narrow beige-tiled bathroom – but they’re a little too close for comfort.

The homeowner somehow thought it was a great idea to squeeze the shower in between the tiny sink and toilet.

But the renter was less than impressed by the lack of division – as the bathroom didn’t even feature a shower curtain.

The Redditor wrote in the post: “I’m not a plumber but I feel like this idea for a bathroom is a hygiene disaster waiting to happen.

“I have never seen a bathroom which is designed in a matchbox shape with the sink, then shower then toilet in that order and without shower curtains in between.”

The shower space also included a towel hook – above the toilet – as well as a small shelf to store toilet roll on.

The only convenient aspect was the soap holder situated next to the mirror, which could be grabbed for both a scrub in the shower or the sink.

Elsewhere in the home, a single garden tap had been mounted above the sink in the small kitchen area – which also set alarm bells ringing for the renter.

Another image showed a basic room with only a desk, chair and a chest of drawers inside.

The apartment is one of six studios on Wilson Street that have since been rented out for between $320 to $380 per week.

Social media users were stunned by the unusual layout of the home, expressing concern regarding the safety of the shower area.

One said: “I’d hate to slip in that shower. Landing wrong on the sink or toilet could be devastating.”

Another added: “I think the toilet paper getting wet would be my biggest annoyance here.”

A third wrote: “That bathroom would be a deal breaker for a lot of people I feel, no way I could live with a bathroom like that.”

“The fact that the toilet is not centred bothers me,” a fourth chimed in.

And a fifth joked: “Bonus!! your toilet will always be clean!”

Others suggested the space-saving setup was “common in many parts of the world”, while some were more concerned about the ridiculous tap in the kitchen.

One Reddit user pointed out it there would be no hot running water and that it may not have been plumbed in properly.

The listing for the apartment describes it as “affordable living in one of the inner west’s most prominent suburbs”.

It boasts that each flat features fresh paint, new carpet and a “modern bathroom” – despite the house hunter’s discovery.

We previously told how a seven-bedroom home hit the market for just under £1million – featuring a bed stuffed beside a shower in one of the bathrooms.

The three-storey property in north-west London boasts a series of unusual design decisions, including what appears to be a bar beside the front door.
