GOING on holiday this year could cost you a fortune, with rising flight prices and car rental costs.

And there is another cost you should be looking out for if you want to save.

Prices for car parking spaces at airports are another soaring cost that holidaymakers are facing this summer.

But don’t give up and cancel the entire trip – shopping around and booking in advance could save you a fortune.

The Sun has sourced data from price comparison website, parking4less.com to find out where you can get the cheapest parking.

The data is a snapshot of what prices looked like on August 5, 2022 – so if you search on a different day, you could get a different outcome.

But it gives an indication of where it is cheapest and most expensive to park – plus, we’ve got some tips on how to save more too.

We searched for airport parking costs for a trip between August 20 and August 27, 2022.

We looked at parking at the airport – rather than in an off-site parking lot or using meet and greet services.

It’s worth pointing out that some airports were fully booked so we were unable to find a price for these – they include Heathrow and Gatwick, among others.

According to our comparison, Durham Teeside International was the cheapest place to park, costing just £40 for the full week cost.

Next cheapest were Humberside and Liverpool airports, at £50.50 and £59.99 respectively.

The most expensive airport for parking was Birmingham where the week of parking would cost £164.89.

The second and third most expensive airports were Leeds Bradford (£129.00) and Luton (£120.49).

You should always shop around and look for the best price.

Of course, there are plenty of other options you can choose when it comes to parking at the airport.

When we looked, the cost of parking at an off-site car park on the same dates ranged from £44.99 at Aberdeen airport, to £132.99 at Gatwick.

A meet & Gren service cost £72 at Liverpool airport but would set you back a hefty £221.99 at Bristol.

How to save cash when parking at the airport

Parking is another thing you need to factor in to your overall costs when you’re booking a holiday – and usually, the earlier you book, the better the deal.

A great way to save is to use a price comparison website – sites that specialise in this include Airport Parking Shop, parking4less.com and gocompareparking.co.uk.

You could use one of these sites to see what the parking costs are like at other airports before you book your flights – that way you can weigh up all of the costs associated with a trip from a specific airport.

Another way to save is to book “off airport” parking.

This is where you go and park your car near the airport and then get a shuttle to a terminal.

It is obviously a bit more of a faff but you could save good money.

Most price comparison websites will show you the difference in price for parking at on and off airport – so it’s always worth checking the difference.

Check sites such as JustPark and YourParkingSpace where you can rent out someone’s private driveway – these might be a bit further away so you’ll have to factor in cab costs.

And of course, if you find that airport parking costs too much, you could always consider catching the train.

Remember, the cost of tickets, particularly for a large family, might be expensive though, so make sure you cost your options out.
