The family run business posted on Facebook: “Obviously we are very sad to lose the café – we have put a lot of work into it over the past four years and have been blown away by the support from our loyal customers.

“It is especially hard given it’s in Moomaid’s home village and was, we hope, a nice addition for our small community.

“Moving forward … We are working on ideas to get scooping Moomaid again in our home village and hope to have news for you very soon.”

The popular ice cream venue will shut its doors for good on September 24, but other franchises in Porthowan, St Just and St Ives will remain open.

The family run business makes their luxury ice cream on their own parlour on Tremedda farm in West Cornwall, and has been through four generations.

The cows are housed in the winter and remain outside from February to October if weather permits – making for happy cows and great ice cream.

In their parlour in Zennor, they serve coffees, teas, sandwiches, homemade cakes, cream teas sundaes and of course – ice cream.

Last month, a hidden gem seaside hut selling Britain’s biggest Mr Whippy ice creams for just £3 was discovered.

The ‘skyscraper’ ice creams are almost a foot tall from cone to flake, which is double the traditional size.

The tiny spot is just a small brick hut at Newton’s Cove, a secluded spot in Weymouth, Dorset.

They are a bargain compared to ice cream in other areas, costing just £3 – the same price as a small tub.

And tourists are just as sold by the ice creams.

Holidaymaker Neil Barker, 46, from Sheffield, said spotted someone else eating the giant Mr Whippy at the harbour which piqued his interest.

Neil said: “It is very clever how he does it because you think the ice cream would just collapse, but he achieves it in stages.

“I saw someone at the harbour eating one and could not believe the size of it.

“It is the biggest Mr Whippy I’ve ever seen, twice a normal one.”
