Barclays is on target to axe 103 bank branches this year alone.
The bank announced in March that 13 would shut and confirmed a further 27 closures earlier this week.
This is on top of the 63 that have already closed their doors since the start of 2022.
Some 63 Barclays branches have shut down since the start of the year
It comes less than a month after the Government confirmed new laws to protect cash.
Barclays defended the move and claimed customers are now completing fewer than one in ten transactions in a branch.
But Rocio Concha, director of policy and advocacy at Which? warns: ‘There remains a significant minority, for whom cash is a vital lifeline to pay for everyday essentials and keep track of their spending, that aren’t yet ready or willing to make that switch [to new technology].’
A Barclays spokesman says: ‘We continue to review and adjust our branch footprint to ensure it reflects the way that our customers are increasingly choosing to do their banking.’
