Vulnerable customers are struggling to have cash delivered to their doorsteps as local bank branches and ATMs close.
The door-to-door service is vital for those unable to travel to their nearest branch or Post Office. But Nationwide, scrapped its service in June and the Post Office has long since withdrawn it.
Money Mail reader Marcia Freedman, 83, has struggled to get her usual £400 delivery after her local HSBC branch closed.

Marcia says: ‘I was told that various numbers didn’t correspond and that they didn’t have this facility.
‘When I said I was disabled and almost blind, the woman I spoke to apologised saying she would speak to one of the team. But I was on hold for 30 minutes and then cut off.’
She adds that it can take 45 minutes to answer all the bank’s questions about the order. And even then there is no guarantee the delivery will be approved.
An HSBC spokesman apologises for her experience adding: ‘We have arranged for a member of staff at the Walthamstow branch to call Miss Freedman on a monthly basis to arrange an order.’
