BAE Systems has struck a deal to buy a software group that uses computer and virtual reality battlefield simulations to train soldiers.
The defence giant has taken over Bohemia Interactive Simulations, which is based in Florida and has 325 employees.
The US military is its biggest customer, but it has also worked with the Ministry of Defence (MoD).

The group says it can create and run ‘any imaginable military training scenario’ on any type of terrain.
BAE did not say how much the deal would be worth but it will need to get the sign-off from regulators.
The FTSE 100 group already works in simulation training and in September it won MoD contracts to train Typhoon fighter jet pilots.
It is the company’s latest move into the US, where last year it bought two firms for £1.7billion.
The takeover announcement came as fellow UK defence firm Qinetiq took a £14.5million writedown after it ran into a number of obstacles with a ‘complex’ contract.
