But, money saving Asda customers shared a simple solution to cut costs and help out leading up to the big day.

In a post uploaded to Facebook in the Extreme Couponing and Bargains Group UK, one member revealed the hack.

She penned: “Just brought two pairs of Christmas socks from Asda and a loaf of bread.

“I used both vouchers for clothing and both went through.

“I used a £1.00 coupon I had so all came to 10p.

“I didn’t think you could use more than one voucher per transaction but obviously you can, oh and then I won £5 on the Christmas rewards thing.”

One impressed shopper wrote: “Bonus. Love when things like this happen.”

Someone else boasted: “I used four in one transaction on Sunday and all of them worked.”

The Asda Christmas rewards scheme, ‘Scan to Win’ gives customers who spend £5 or more the chance to win up to £5,000.

Shoppers have until December 24 to try their luck by scanning their Asda Rewards app to earn one entry per day.

Posting on Facebook, one previous winner said: “I got £5 the other day. Was well chuffed as I only ever win 50p on Asda things, occasionally £1.”

Another added: “A couple of months ago I got £100 from one of these.”

It comes as Brits are gearing up for Christmas ‘panic week’ – when £3.31billion is expected to be spent across the UK.

As reported by the Mirror, 38 million people are predicted to fork out 15 per cent more this holiday season than last year.

On what has been dubbed “Super Saturday”, festive shoppers are set to generate a whopping £1.76billion in sales, meanwhile “Stampede Sunday” could bring in £1.55billion.

To escape the stress of racing around supermarkets and breaking the bank, thousands of savvy shoppers follow tips shared in the Extreme Couponing and Bargains Group UK.

Other tricks posted came from one mum who revealed how she saved a whopping £100 on a recent trip to Asda.

Alongside a snap of her trolley, she wrote: “Well chuffed, just got £130 worth of toys for £30! Just now at Asda.

“They’d reduced a load of toys down to as little as £5 each.”

Meanwhile, more deals perfect in time for Christmas included a £5 toy that normally retails for £30.

Home Bargains slashed their prices on the Hey Duggee range for customers looking to stocking up on presents.
