ASDA has revealed when customers can book their Christmas food delivery – with some shoppers able to reserve a slot from today.

The supermarket has opened its booking system to delivery pass customers from today.

Other shoppers will have to wait until October 28 to arrange their Christmas delivery.

Asda said it will have 900,000 home delivery and click and collect slots available in the week before Christmas.

It has more than doubled the capacity of its online delivery service since the beginning of the pandemic.

Asda has already revealed its Christmas menu for this year, including a candy cane sausage roll and Irish cream mince pies.

Shoppers are also loving the chocolate orange yule log that Asda has in stock this year.

Most other supermarkets haven’t opened for Christmas delivery bookings yet, and many are yet to confirm when slots will be available.

However, Tesco has confirmed that its delivery saver customers will be able to book slots from 6am on November 16.

Ocado allowed customers to book earlier this month, but shoppers were left frustrated when slots sold out in minutes.

Asda also announced today that it is aiming to hire 15,000 temporary workers over the Christmas period. More details on the roles are available on the company’s website.

Hayley Tatum, chief people officer at Asda, said: “We will do all we can to make sure customers have a fantastic Christmas and recruiting an extra 15,000 colleagues across our stores, depots and home delivery service will help us to provide them with great products and excellent service when they shop with us during the festive season.”

But competition to attract extra workers is tough, and Amazon has recently doubled its joining bonus to £3,000 in an attempt to hire more staff.

Aldi, Sainsbury’s and M&S are among the other retailers hoping to employ thousands of additional temporary workers over the festive season.

Shoppers are raving about George at Asda’s new winter line of luxe coats, cosy loungewear and on-trend denim and prices start at just £8
