ASDA has launched a £1 meal deal to help people with the cost of living crisis.
The offer will be rolled out across 205 of the supermarket’s cafes – but there’s a catch.

The £1 meal deal will only be available to those aged 60 and over to help with the cost of living.
The meal deal dubbed the “winter warmer” initiative will provide those over 60 with a portion of soup, a roll and unlimited tea and coffee – all for £1.
Mohsin Issa, Asda’s co-owner, said: “We know that this winter is set to be incredibly hard for thousands of pensioners as they worry about how to keep themselves warm in the face of rising living costs and a fixed income.
“We’ve already been able to serve over half a million meals through our Kids Eat for £1 initiative in our cafes and we’re hoping our new offer of soup and hot drinks for over 60s will prove just as impactful for those who need it most.
It comes after the latest research by Asda suggests that those aged 65 to 74 experienced a £163 reduction in disposable income in August, compared to last year.
This aligns with Age UK’s findings, which estimate that 2.8million older households will face fuel poverty this winter despite the introduction of the Energy Price Guarantee.
Asda launched its Kids Eat campaign back in July which allowed children in England and Wales to eat for £1 in its cafes.
Asda didn’t introduce a minimum adult spend, meaning you don’t have to spend a certain amount to get the offer.

The Kids Eat for £1 deal was available between July 25 and September 4.
Children were able to get either a hot or cold meal, depending on availability.
Baby food was also available as part of the initiative, with little ones able to get a free pouch of Ella’s Kitchen baby food in their local Asda café – although this part of the scheme is still available today.
The supermarket has also announced a new scheme called the “Community Cuppa.”
As part of the scheme, the supermarket will make spaces available on weekdays in November and December from 2pm to 6pm for local groups and charities who can’t afford to meet rising energy costs.
All community group members who visit will also receive unlimited free tea or coffee.
Asda is also helping local groups and charities more directly with the cost of energy.
The Asda Foundation will give grants of up to £2,000 to give groups and charities that need financial support to help cover the increasing cost of energy.
Mr Issa said: “Meanwhile, the cost of living grant programme led by Asda’s charity The Asda Foundation will support grassroots organisations who are providing a lifeline in their communities during these tough times.”
