The number of reported outages for the app and website is currently at more than 700, according to Downdetector.

Downdetector tracks outages and said that “user reports indicate problems at Asda”.

Around 68% of problems are about the app and 28% are about the website.

Customers complained that they can’t even change their online password.

The Sun has contacted Asda for comment.

One unhappy shopper posted on Twitter and said: “@asda Your online shopping and asda rewards are down.

“Told me to reset passwords and still nothing.”

While another added: “Is the app down? I had an email to say I may need to log in and now it won’t let me even if I change password – it says incorrect detail.

“I hope I’ve not lost all my rewards.”

And a third added: “Is the Asda rewards app down? I can’t log in.”

One customer with an online order said they were concerned about whether their delivery would still arrive on time.

They wrote on Twitter: “Asda is your app down? I cannot log in to check the status of my grocery order due to be delivered this evening 6-7pm? Even your website isn’t working?”

The outage appeared to be nationwide, but the affected areas haven’t been confirmed by Asda.

It comes after some Asda shoppers discovered that they had been charged twice for weekly shops they did months ago.

Can you claim compensation for outages?

There’s no fixed compensation scheme for supermarket website outages like there is for other industries such as telecoms.

But if being unable to access your account has left you out of pocket for any reason, it’s worth contacting Asda.

You should gather evidence, for example, a delivery receipt, and get in touch with Asda’s customer service team.

For online grocery order issues, you can ring 0800 9520 395 which is free to call from landlines and mobiles.
