Budget retailed Poundland last week reignited the supermarket cake wars, announcing the arrival of its chocolatey caterpillar cake Chris.
The discount store’s offering sells for £4.50, making it half the price of M&S’s popular Colin cake.
And as Thea Jacobs found out, it’s not the first time Poundland has caused double trouble with a cheeky product.
Prada Candy v Pink Crush
ANOTHER perfume win for Poundland’s Scentalis range is the Pink Crush (100ml, £4), which is an alternative to Prada’s Candy (80ml, £105, theperfumshop.com) and £101 cheaper.
That’s Candy crushed.
Aveeno Dermexa Emollient OR Nuage Aqueous Cream
SOOTHING troublesome skin can be pricey.
Yet while Aveeno’s Dermexa Daily Emollient Cream (500ml, £16.80, Boots) will set you back more than a tenner, Poundland sells a cream by Nuage that it claims has similar properties but it will only set you back £1.
Le Correcteur OR Colour Corrector
YOU couldn’t make it up . . . Poundland’s beauty department sells a budget colour corrector for pennies (MUG x Hide & Chic Colour Corrector (25p, (Poundland) while Major fashion house Chanel sells it’s corrector (£32, Chanel) at a budget-blowing price.
No7 Future Renew Day Cream OR #6 Anti-Ageing Day Cream
BOOTS has cornered the market with its No7 skincare range and popular products such as Future Renew Day Cream (50ml, £34.95, Boots), while rival line #6 offers beauty treatments such as Anti Wrinkle Day Cream (50ml, £1, Poundland) for much less.
