Are zoos open on the August Bank Holiday 2023?

The London Zoo, Regent’s Park

London Zoo is one of the oldest zoos in England, opening in 1828.

It’s one of the favourite tourist spots for both visitors and residents in London.

Animal lovers will be able to visit London Zoo over the August Bank Holiday from 10am to 6pm, although last entry is at 5pm.

You certainly won’t get bored as there are more than 19,000 different animals at London Zoo.

The park is open every day except for Christmas Day and, this year, Saturday October 14 – but check the website to avoid disappointment.

Chester Zoo

Chester Zoo will be open between 10am and 6pm over the whole Bank Holiday, with last entry one hour before closing time.

The venue covers roughly 125 acres of land and there are around 400 species of animals to see.

There are also boat trips available at Chester Zoo, meaning visitors can watch the animals in their habitats from the water.

Longleat Safari Park

Longleat Safari and Adventure Park is one of the oldest safari parks in England.

Home to more than 120 species, Longleat was the first safari park to open outside of Africa in 1966.

You can view the animals by car, foot, train, bus or boat.

The park will open between 10am-7pm over the Summer Bank Holiday, with last entry into the park at 4pm.

The park closes for periods over the winter. You can check the website’s calendar to find out if it’s open on any particular day.

Edinburgh Zoo

Edinburgh Zoo was the first zoo in the world to house and to breed penguins, as well as being the only zoo in Britain to house Queensland koalas and giant pandas.

It is based on 82-acres of land and receives more than 600,000 visitors each year.

If you plan to visit this long weekend, the park is open between 10am and 6pm April through September.

The only planned closure is Christmas Day.

Colchester Zoo

Colchester Zoo, based in Essex, is on the smaller side for a zoo, being based on just 60 acres of land.

But it’s still home to many rare and endangered species including big cats, primates and birds as well as many invertebrates and fish.

Over the Summer Bank Holiday, the park will open at 9.30am and close at 6pm.
