SUPERMARKET shoppers will want to know when their local grocer is open over the May bank holiday.

It’s worth bearing in mind that the major players are adjusting their opening hours during the holiday.

When you can head out to do your grocery shopping will depend on the individual opening hours of each supermarket.

Bear in mind that some individual stores may have different opening and closing hours, so do check before heading out.

Below we outline what each supermarket is doing over the bank holiday.

The early May bank holiday is on Monday May 6 this year.

The weekend – Saturday, May 4 and Sunday May 5 – is a normal day, and so most store opening hours won’t change on these days.

Aldi

Aldi said its stores will be open during the early May bank holiday but opening times will vary.

The hours are as follows

• Saturday May 4 – 8am – 10pm
• Sunday May 5 – 10am – 4pm
• Monday May 6 – 8am – 8pm

Asda store will be open over the bank holiday but your local store’s hours may differ depending on location.

Lidl supermarkets will be open as usual on the early May bank holiday.

Stores will be open between 8am and 10pm on .

All Sainsbury’s stores are open on the May bank holiday.

Stores will be open between 8am and 8pm.

Tesco’s opening hours vary by location over the bank holiday period.

This is also the best place to check for petrol filling station opening times, as these can vary from the main store opening hours.

Most Tesco Express stores remain open.   

Store opening hours will vary depending on location and store type.

Many large stores will are operating with reduced hours, closing by 8pm.
