CHRISTMAS and New Years is a time when plenty head to the pub, but it’s worth checking whether your local will be open.

Opening hours can vary across the festive season, but if your pub is part of a chain, they’ll usually have opening hours on their website.

Or worse case scenario, you could always call the pub direct and see if they’re taking in customers.

Are pubs open for the Christmas period?

Most pubs should be open on Christmas Eve as it’s a time when they get a lot of requests for work and family meals.

But many pubs close on Christmas Day to give their staff time off to rest.

If your local pub is independently run they’ll dictate their opening hours over the Christmas period.

But we asked Wetherspoon, Mitchell and Butler and Greene King what their opening hours will be.

Wetherspoons

Wetherspoons will open selected pubs early on Christmas Day.

Selected stores will be open between 11am and 3pm for drinks only.

You should check out the chain’s pub locator tool to find out when your local is open.

You just have to enter your postcode or location and it will give you the timings and contact details for that pub.

Wetherspoons pubs will reopen as normal on Boxing Day and the December 27 Bank holiday.

Punters will be able to order food and drink between 8am and midnight.

Greene King

Greene King has over 300 pubs in London and 2,600 in the UK.

Opening times across Christmas and the festive period will vary depending on location.

But again, you can check the pub locator on its website which shows you what time your local is open.

Mitchells and Butlers

Mitchells and Butlers own some of the UK’s favourite pubs including Harvester and Toby Carvery.

Like Greene King, opening times over the Christmas period vary across M&B’s pubs so you should check out either Harvester’s or Toby Carvery’s websites.
