THE four day weekend is the perfect time to relax and get stuck into a nice new book or revisit a classic.

If the urge to read has overcome you but nothing on your shelf is grabbing your attention, your local library could be the answer – but are libraries open over the Platinum Jubilee?

Are libraries open on Platinum Jubilee Bank Holiday?

It is likely that your library will be open at some point across the weekend, although running on shorter hours for the Queen‘s Jubilee.

If you have a very small local library then you may find the library is shut as employee numbers are minimal.

24-hour libraries and university libraries are likely to remain open over the bank holiday.

Check your local library to see if they are going to close over the weekend.

Can I get a library book delivered during Platinum Jubilee Bank Holiday?

Some libraries will offer a delivery service so you can access all the books your heart desires without even leaving the comfort of your home.

Depending on the delivery company you may be able to get your book shipped during the Platinum Jubilee bank holiday.

If your library is open and provides a delivery option you may be able to get one or many books delivered.

Most likely any books ordered now will not arrive until Monday, June 6, 2022, as often delivery takes three to five business days.

  • Thursday, June 2 (Spring Bank Holiday)
  • Friday, June 3 (Platinum Jubilee Bank Holiday)
  • Monday, August 29 (Summer Bank Holiday)
  • Sunday, December 25 (Christmas Day)
  • Monday, December 26 (Boxing Day)
  • Tuesday, December 27 (Christmas Holiday)
