BANK Holiday weekends tend to be relaxing but some fitness fanatics will still want to hit the gym.

Good Friday and Easter Monday are Bank Holidays, falling on April 7 and April 10 in 2023. Some people will want to keep up their workout routine, but are gyms open over the Easter weekend?

Are gyms open on Easter Monday 2023?

The Gym Group

The Gym Group is a chain of 24/7 no contract fitness clubs in the UK.

There are more than 228 gyms across the UK as of 2023.

The company’s gyms offer a range of cardio and strength-training equipment, as well as group exercise classes and personal training services.

Their gyms remain open as normal over all Bank Holidays excluding Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Bannatyne’s

Founded by Scottish businessman Duncan Bannatyne, Bannatyne’s gyms will remain open throughout the Bank Holiday weekend but members will need to check their specific gym’s opening times.

The Bannatyne Health Clubs chain began in 1997 with the first club built in North Yorkshire.

David Lloyd Clubs

David Lloyd Leisure currently operates 101 clubs in the United Kingdom as well as another 29 across Europe.

Members will be able to go to their gyms across the Bank Holiday weekend between 7am-10pm.

PureGym is Britain’s largest gym chain by membership, with more than 1,500,000 members registered to their gyms.

As of October 2022 PureGym had 327 gyms in the UK.

Most of PureGym venues will be open over Easter but members are urged to check their specific gym.

Total Fitness

Total Fitness opened in 1993 after being established on the Isle of Man.

It has 16 health clubs across the North of England and Wales and claims a staff of 600 people and 80,000 members.

It is thought most Total Fitness gyms will be open for the Easter weekend but members will need to check opening times.

Virgin Active

Virgin Active opening times across Easter weekend vary in each area, with some being completely closed between Saturday-Monday.

There may also be limited opening hours on Good Friday.

However, members should check their specific gym as opening times will vary.

Virgin Active was founded in 1999 with their first club opening in Preston, Lancashire that year.
