WITH the long Easter weekend bank ahead, bank customers will want to know if and when the banks are open on Good Friday.

Banks have continued to deliver their essential services with high street branches staying open during the coronavirus lockdowns.

Most banks close their doors every Sunday and Easter Sunday will be no different.

But some will be operating at reduced hours or closing altogether on Easter Saturday and Easter Monday.

To ensure you don’t get caught out, we’ve rounded up the opening times for all major UK banks as well as other ways you can get in touch when your local branch is closed.

Barclays

Barclays branches are closed on bank holidays, including Good Friday and Easter Monday.

If you need to get in touch with the bank on Good Friday, you can use the online “chat” function or call the bank on 0345 734 5345.

Be aware though that customer services may be operating reduced hours over the long weekend.

What to do if you can’t access your money

IF you can’t access your money and you need to urgently, here’s what to do:

  • Visit your local branch as soon as you can.
  • If you can’t get there, or it is closed, call your bank and ask for its guidance on what to do.
  • If the bank’s phone services are also down or busy, try contacting your bank on social media to ask what to do. But remember: don’t ever share your account details over social media.
  • Try to do this on the day the problem arises so you can show you made every attempt to solve the issue.
  • If you still can’t access your money, begin gathering evidence for a complaint.

HSBC

HSBC has not released its Easter opening times but last year all branches closed over the bank holiday weekend.

This means it is unlikely branches will be open for Good Friday.

If you need to contact HSBC over Easter, you should be able to use the bank app or website’s live chat, reach out on social media or call the bank on 03457 404 404.

Lloyds Banking Group, which includes Bank of Scotland, Halifax and Lloyd’s Bank, will close all stores over the Easter weekend, including Good Friday.
