Don’t let the phone die

A dead phone is a bummer but it’s also a knock against the battery.

If you let your phone drop below 10% or even die, the battery will be exposed to unnecessary stress.

The optimal time to juice up your phone is when it’s in the 15-20% range, according to AndroidScroll.

Avoid third-party chargers

Be very wary of using third-party cables or adapters.

These might be manufactured cheaply and without proper safety standards.

The charger that comes with the Android was designed to provide the phone with the proper amount of voltage – it’s made by Android, for Android.

Apps advertising faster charging

There are several apps in the Google Play Store that offer battery analysis and data.

These apps can optimize battery usage, but no app can alter the device’s hardware and its charging speed or ability.

An additional battery app will run while in the background, taking some juice with it.

Using while juicing

While taking a forced break from your screen to let it charge can be inconvenient, it’s best to leave it alone while it is plugged in.

The phone can overheat and damage the hardware, putting the device and user at risk – extreme heat is one of the reasons why Android Authority advises removing the phone’s case when charging.

Using the phone while it’s charging will slow down the charge as the device is shuttling power to run the apps and tasks instead of into the battery.

Overcharging

Users want to have as much charge as possible when heading out for the night.

But piling on the battery and plugging the phone in when it already has more than 70% juice can backfire on the user in the long run.

Overcharging will degrade the battery faster, meaning the phone won’t be able to retain juice.

The android won’t rise from the dead

If you have a second phone, or an older phone you rely on as a safety net, don’t store it away with no juice.

“Leaving it at anything lesser than 50% is like telling you to run a marathon after waking up from the dead,” AndroidScoll wrote in a blog.

It may be difficult to notice the day-to-day effects on the battery from charging habits.

Smart charging practices will help users get the most for their money out of their Android.
