But it’s important to check as it contains several important features, some of which are invaluable in an emergency.

It appears in the Play Store as “Personal Safety”, but in your app list it shows up as “Safety”.

The app is designed as a one-stop-shop for your safety.

Google explains: “Personal Safety is a Pixel app that helps you prepare and react in an emergency by quickly connecting you with the help and information you need.”

What’s inside the Personal Safety app?

One of the main features of Personal Safety is Emergency SOS.

You can activate Emergency SOS by pressing the Power button quickly five or more times.

And you’ll be able to set up your emergency contacts, call emergency services, share your location and key info, and even send videos of your situation to friends.

Emergency Sharing is something you’ll need to set up in advance.

There’s also a Safety Check mode that lets you create a check-in timer.

This can confirm that you’re safe to friends – or kickstart Emergency Sharing if you don’t respond by the end of the timer.

Personal Safety also includes Car Crash Detection – note that it isn’t available in all countries, however.

“If your phone detects that you’ve been in a car crash, it can call for help automatically,” Google explained.

Personal Safety can notify you about natural disasters and public emergencies nearby.

And the Emergency Info section lets you enter your medical details.

You’ll also be able to choose emergency contacts.

These details are available when your phone is locked by default, so that first responders can access them in an emergency.
