AMAZON’S Echo range of smart speakers has a long list of skills, but movement isn’t one.

The feature allows it to hold you as the focus of the camera, even if you’re moving to the left, right, away or towards the device.

While panning and zooming, the Show 10 3rd gen also makes use of a powerful 13MP camera.

It’s a bumper upgrade on the 5MP camera of the current Show 10, to offer more clarity and detail – boith on video calls and in remote access.

The new features tie in with changes to Amazon Echo video-calling capabilities too.

Echos can now make use of a ‘group calling’ feature allowing up to eight callers to chat at once.

Plus, Amazon recently added support for Zoom video-calling, alongside Amazon’s own Chime app.

Combining new features and Amazon’s wider video support means the Show 10 3rd gen will make a strong case on launch.

There are privacy considerations too, with an electronic microphone and camera off button; as well as a built-in camera cover.

It can still do everything the existing Echo Shows can do, including serving as a hub for other devices and displaying a live feed from any connected Ring video doorbell.

You can access it remotely too, using it to view its surroundings by making use of its pan feature for a 360-degree view.

On release the new Show 10 will cost £239.99 and it’s available for pre-order now.

It doesn’t appear the Echo Show 2nd gen will remain on sale with ther release.

But refurbished 2nd gen models are available at £177.99, and come with a new one year guarantee.

Meanwhile, Amazon Ring doorbells partner with THOUSANDS of police and fire departments that can now request camera access.

In other news, Netflix is trialling a viewing timer feature that can pause an episode for you if you fall asleep.

And, a WhatsApp message that installs a ‘worm’ on your phone and infects your friends is targeting Android users.
