Back in June, we saw the first-generation Echo Show 8 fall to its lowest ever price during Amazon’s Prime Day sale. Now, it’s time for its little brother the Echo Show 5 to get a price drop.

Typically, you’d have to part with a good £79.99 on this screen-based ‘smart speaker’.

But thanks to Amazon’s discount, the white-coloured version of the first-gen Echo Show 5 is now just £44.99. That’s a major 44% discount.

This device from Amazon’s hugely popular smart speaker range offers all the same functions and features as a typical Echo.

But the Show 5 builds on that by incorporating a 5.5-inch touchscreen, which lets you do anything from stream YouTube videos to calling your loved ones.

You can do all these things, of course, with Alexa, Amazon’s voice assistant. This built-in service lets you operate the Show 5 without touching a single button.

If you want to check out the leading device in the Show range, take a look at the third-generation Echo Show 10, which was released earlier this year.

This top-of-the-line device features a 10.1-inch screen that will automatically follow you around the room as you move – but it also comes in at a hefty £239.99.

The discount on the Echo Show 5 is a great deal, but we know there will be even hotter price drops on Amazon devices when Black Friday rolls around in November.

Alexa can also help prospective house-buyers suss out a local area, thanks to a partnership between Amazon and Nationwide Building Society.

In other tech deals news, two 2020 iPad Pros are currently on sale at Amazon and Currys PC World.

And a TikTok star recently shared a clever WhatsApp hack that lets Android users find out what’s been written in deleted messages from others.
