But clever shoppers need to look past the hype and work out which items are a true deal and which are a dud.

It’s a good idea to make a list of items that you need ahead of Amazon‘s promotion so that you’re less likely to impulse buy.

But many Amazon users have revealed a simple trick to spotting the best deals so you don’t get caught out.

It comes after one shopper posted in the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group to explain how they save cash on their Amazon purchases.

The shopper said: “If you put things in your basket and they sit there a while, they put a pop-up with the option to receive a notification of when there’s a deal on.

“My Alexa also notifies me, if I leave items in my basket or saved items, and a deal comes up – I had four this morning.”

Others who’ve caught onto the trick were quick to respond and highlight their savings so far this Prime Day.

“The item I’ve had in my basket has gone down by £70 today so I will have a very happy child,” said another shopper.

This trick really is as simple as it sounds.

All you need to do is add items you’re after to your shopping cart and leave them there for a few days.

You might then find that one or more of the items in your basket change in price even after just 24 hours – you can manually tick to get notifications for price changes or deals.

This is a bit of a sneaky trick and while it’s not always going to come up trumps, it’s definitely worth a go.

Even if you don’t get a push notification, Amazon will usually email you asking if you want to complete your purchase, and you might even get a money-off coupon included.

Amazon Prime‘s two-day flash sale is one of the biggest shopping events of the year.

Included in the sale are dozens of products, gadgets and fashion items with knock-down prices.

It’s also the perfect time to get your Christmas presents in early.
