One film fan shared the offer to the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group.

The post racked up over 1k comments from fellow Amazon users who were gobsmacked that they had not noticed the discount before.

The post read: “Not sure if I’m just late to realise, but if you have Amazon Prime you can get codes for Odeon Cinema Monday to Thursday, £10 for two tickets normal Odeon, £15 for two tickets at Odeon Lux.”

One person replied: “I didn’t have a clue about this, thanks!”

While another added: “I did not know this, where can I find it?”

Many other people were tagging their friends in the comments to say “I didn’t know this, did you?”.

To get the offer you need to be an Amazon Prime subscriber and you can download the code from the account settings section.

Users need to copy the Prime offer code from the website or app and then redeem it on the Odeon website or app.

Also, the offer code is only valid for 30 minutes, and can only be used once a month.

We checked to see just how much of a saving you get against a full-price mid-week cinema ticket.

Prices vary depending on the location of the cinema and the seats that you choose.

We checked a handful of cinemas for off-peak tickets to see the Wonka movie and the average price was around £6.49 per adult.

Therefore if you do use the Amazon Prime offer you could save around £3 on your visit.

Terms and conditions do apply to the offer so do check what they are before making any plans with your friends.

Amazon Prime membership costs £8.99 a month and £4.49 if you are a student.

Being an Amazon Prime member has benefits such as free delivery, try before you buy and Amazon film.

Other ways you can save on cinema tickets

There are plenty of ways you can save money on cinema tickets without being an Amazon Prime member.

If you are a film fan who regularly goes to the same cinema, look to sign up to a loyalty scheme.

Whether your local cinema is an independent one of a chain ask what schemes they run and compare the price of individual tickets to work out if it’s worth it.

With myOdeon free membership, you can get deals on tickets.

But if you are a big film buff you could save more with the chain’s myLimitless scheme allowing you to see unlimited 2D movies for £14.99 a month (£16.99 including Central London).

Standard adult tickets are about £11.50, so you could save just by watching more than one film a month.

Cineworld’s Unlimited membership ranges from £10.99 a month to £21.90 depending on where you live and which cinemas are included.

With this membership, you can watch the latest movies as many times as you want at your local Cineworld.

Depending on the kind of ticket you get, you only have to go more than once a month to make your money back.

Also, Meerkat Movies offers two-for-one tickets on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for a year if you buy a qualifying product at comparethemarket.com.

Mobile phone providers sometimes do offers on cinema tickets so it is worth checking with yours to see if they have any deals on before you buy your ticket.

Supermarkets have also been known to offer discounts through their loyalty schemes so keep your eyes peeled.
