YOUR Amazon Fire TV gadget might be putting too much strain on your internet – but there’s a simple fix.
If you’re worried about your Wi-Fi being “drained”, you’ll want to take a look at your streaming settings.
What is Wi-Fi drain?
For many people, an Amazon Fire TV Stick can run at full pelt with no issue.
But there are some situations where you might not want a Fire TV device pumping out the best-possible quality footage.
The first is if you’re using some kind of metered connection.
That’s especially likely if you’re streaming while connected to a mobile hotspot or 5G router – but it may be the case for some home broadband packages too.
If you’re streaming at max quality, you’ll use up your data allowance much faster.
And that could result in hitting a monthly cap or even incurring overage charges.
The other situation is when you’ve got a really busy household where lots of people are using the internet.
If the Amazon Fire TV is playing content in the best possible quality, it might put strain on the Wi-Fi – and gamers in your household might complain.

This won’t be the case for some households with high-speed connections, but it could affect homes that aren’t so lucky.
Thankfully you can preselect the quality that your Amazon Fire TV device plays content in.
How to limit Amazon Fire TV quality
Boot up your Amazon Fire TV Stick and head into the Settings.
You’ll then want to navigate to Preferences and then choose Data Monitoring.
Now select Set Video Quality and pick one of the three choices.
The options available include Good, Better, and Best.
If you’re worried about your Wi-Fi, consider setting it to Better or even just Good.
You might not even notice a huge difference visually, especially if you have a smaller or older television.
Similarly, if you don’t care about your Wi-Fi usage and your connection is great, just keep it set on Best at all times.

The good news is that you can change these settings at any time.
So if you’re not happy with how your TV looks (or the data it’s using) then you can tweak it in seconds, with instant results.
