Infowars sales have surged unexpectedly in recent weeks, lawyers for the conspiracy website said, timing that coincides with a high-profile defamation trial against its founder, Alex Jones.

The trial ended last week with a jury ordering Mr. Jones to pay nearly $50 million in damages to the parents of a 6-year-old boy killed in the Sandy Hook school shooting.
