ALDI is teasing shoppers with a new trailer for its Christmas advert – and Kevin the Carrot is back with a new wingman.

The carrot has featured in the discounter’s Christmas campaign for the past five years – and he looks set to return in 2020.

Although whether he’ll remain the star of the campaign remains to be seen.

Aldi’s teaser advert begins with a scene that is reminiscent of 80s movie Top Gun, with Kevin cruising in a fighter jet with his wingman Lieutenant Turkey.

Kevin shows off some tricks in the aircraft before he and Turkey encounter Father Christmas and a bunch of reindeer above a snowy mountain range.

But then disaster strikes, as Turkey says “I’m roasting” and opens the window, leaving Kevin accidentally ejected from the plane mid-flight.

The 40-second clips ends with Kevin spiralling down to earth, his parachute in flames and the hashtag #WhereIsKevin.

The clip has already aired on multiple TV channels but you can watch it above or on YouTube too.

Aldi is expected to release the full advert later this month, although it remains tight-lipped about the exact date.

The discounter has also been teasing shoppers about the Christmas advert on Twitter, tweeting a newspaper front page with the headline: “Kevin the Carrot absent without leaf”.

While another tweet added: “It looks like Kevin’s out in the wild! Have you seen him?

“Go on, share your Kevin snaps #WhereIsKevin.”

Last year, the discounter released the Christmas advert on November 6 and its teaser on November 1.

The full advert saw Kevin the Carrot fight off the Leafy Blinders Brussels sprout gang, which were furious about the carrot family stealing the show as the star vegetable for Christmas.

The year before Kevin took to the wheel of a very recognisable truck decked out in lights.

And in 2017, Kevin was looking for love and we saw him meet Katie.

Fans of Aldi loved watching the happy conclusion of the tale, with Kevin and partner Katie welcoming the arrival of three baby carrots – Jasper, Baby Carrot and Chantenay.

The popularity of the Christmas adverts mean Aldi usually has to limit the amount of Kevin the Carrot toys one shopper can buy to two each.

Last year, Aldi shoppers fought and pushed to get their hands on the toys after queueing since 6.30am.

The toys then sold on eBay for up to £1,000 just hours after going on sale.

A few years ago, lots of shoppers also shared pics of their soft toys in VERY funny positions.
