Currently, Aldi’s minimum wage rate is £10.10 outside London, and £11.55 within the M25.

Bosses at the supermarket last hiked the pay for its staff in February, when its minimum wage rate rose from £9.55 outside London.

Giles Hurley, Chief Executive Officer of Aldi UK and Ireland, said the new rates maintain Aldi’s position as the “UK’s highest paying supermarket.”

He added: “This announcement recognises the amazing contribution our colleagues make in serving local communities across the country. Their outstanding efforts have ensured that our customers continue to have access to fresh affordable food, every single day.”

Aldi also said the boost means that these workers will be paid higher than the real living wage rate, which is £9.90 an hour nationally, and £11.05 inside the M25.

It means that Aldi will be splashing out £43million giving store assistants more money last this year.

The supermarket also pays workers paid breaks, worth £830 to each store worker annually.

It comes after the supermarket accounced it was to create 1,000 new logistics jobs this year.

Aldi isn’t the only supermarket who announced it will increase its staff wages this year.
