When are Aldi branches opening and closing?

Aldi stores are typically open from 8am to 10pm.

Since the store’s opening hours were shortened following the first lockdown, the hours have returned to normal to allow more customers to shop during less busy times.

The store’s busiest times are between 11am to 3pm, and the quietest times to shop are between 7pm and 10pm.

You might have to queue to get in, as the supermarket is limiting entry at the busy times.

It’s operating a traffic light policy at store entrances, so you’ll be able to enter when the green light shows on screens above the door.

You can find your nearest Aldi branch by using its store locator tool.

Here’s how to cut the cost of your grocery shop

SAVING on your shop can make a big difference to your wallet. Here are some tips from Money.co.uk about how you can cut the cost of your shopping bills:

  • Write yourself a list – Only buy items that you need. If it isn’t on your list, don’t put it in the trolley
  • Create a budget – Work out a weekly budget for your food shopping
  • Never shop hungry – you are far more likely to buy  more food if your tummy is rumbling
  • Don’t buy pre-chopped veggies or fruit – The extra they’ll charge for chopping can be eye watering
  • Use social media – follow your favourite retailers to find out about the latest deals
  • Be disloyal – You may want to go to different stores to find the best bargains
  • Check the small print –  It’s always worth checking the price per kg/lb/litre when comparing offers so you’re making a like for like decision as a bigger box won’t necessarily mean you get more
  • Use your loyalty cards – Don’t be afraid to sign up to them all. They all work slightly differently – work out what bonus suits you better and remember to trade in your points for additional rewards

Does Aldi operate any special opening hours?

The discounter launched special opening hours last year, but these have since been axed, it confirmed to The Sun.

Previously all stores opened 30 minutes earlier than the usual on Monday to Saturday for elderly and vulnerable shoppers.

In England and Wales, shoppers were only able to browse during these times.

But in Scotland, you could buy your items straight away.

Meanwhile, emergency service workers, including NHS, Police and Fire Service workers, were previously also given priority hours.

On Sundays, these workers could previously access stores 30 minutes before they opened to other customers.

This also included social workers, first responders, St John’s Ambulance staff and Age UK volunteers.

When is the best time to shop there?

Google has a tracker which allows you to see when the peak times are.

If you search for “Aldi” and then click on your nearest store, it will show a bar chart of when the store’s busiest times are.

Aldi has said their quietest times are usually between 7pm and 10pm.

What should I buy when I’m there?

The Government and supermarkets have urged shoppers not to panic buy or stockpile.

Shoppers are also being encouraged not to touch items unless you’re going to pay for them to limit the spread of the virus.

Is there a limit on items?

During the first lockdown, Aldi implemented a four items per shopper limit on all products.

It also reduced the number of nappies, toilet paper and kitchen roll to two per person.

But these limits have since been eased, as Aldi says it feels these restrictions are not necessary now.

On its website, Aldi says product availability is good thanks to suppliers and colleagues keeping shelves full and customers only buying what they need.

Can I order online?

Yes, you can still order online, but the store’s delivery service does not include groceries.

It will take around three to five working days to receive your items.

A standard delivery is free for orders over £30 and costs £2.95 for orders under £30.

For £3.95, you can get a next day delivery on any order placed before 7pm on Monday-Friday.

You can also get your Aldi groceries delivered on Deliveroo.

There are 400 items available from the supermarket in the service and you can have an order arrive at your door in around half an hour.

Delivery is an extra £4.99 for this though, and depending on how far you live from a store may impact this charge and how long it takes to get to you.

What about click and collect?

You can order your groceries online and pick them up at the shop under Aldi’s click and collect service.

It will cost you £4.99 to use the service though.

Pick the store and time slot for when you’re wanting to pick up your items.

When you arrive, park up in a click and collect bay, reply to the text you received about your order and someone will bring your package to you.

Non-essential shops finally reopened to customers earlier this month.

It came after some businesses and services reopened last month, such as outdoor swimming pools and exercise classes.
