AN abandoned mansion left to rot in “uninhabitable condition” is on the market for an eye-watering price – and you could end up with some very famous neighbours.

The dilapidated London home was recently made available on property site Zoopla for a whopping £22.5million.

Marketed as a spacious detached house, any prospective buyers will also find themselves sitting on nearly an acre of land.

The Compton Avenue property is nestled in a prime location within the north-west of the capital, and is just a stone’s throw from popular nature spot Hampstead Heath.

Stars such as Liam Gallagher, Ricky Gervais and other famous faces make up an elite group of residents in the swanky area.

However, the listing states that the existing buildings are in “extremely poor condition” and are “currently uninhabitable”.

It doesn’t come as a surprise, with the house in general looking faded and in desperate need of a modern overhaul.

The six-bedroom mansion is at the end of the road, overlooking Highgate golf club, with a gated driveway that is overgrown with weeds and untamed trees.

But if you’re willing to put in a hefty amount of elbow grease, it could turn out to be a great investment for those with the cash to fund it.

It’s why planning permission for a house extending to more than 18,000 square feet has been granted for the property in a quiet area surrounded by greenery.

Potential owners will be happy to hear that planning permission will also allow for a “separate art studio pavilion”.

The plans also have a basement with underground car parking and leisure facilities, including a cinema, gym and swimming pool.

At the entrance to Compton Avenue, there is a gate with 24 hour security, to help protect the private road.

It goes without saying the massive mansion would be perfect for a large family, although new owners will need to get stuck in to make the house liveable.

There are no images of the interior of the existing building as it is reportedly in such a bad state.

The listing on Zoopla reads: “Freehold development opportunity in a prestigious private cul-de-sac with barrier controlled access and 24 hour security, located close to the green open spaces Kenwood & Hampstead Heath.

“This site extends to almost approximately 1 Acre and occupies a quiet position at the end of a private cul-de-sac, adjacent to the golf course.

“The development opportunity benefits from implemented full planning permission for a detached house extending to 18,111 Sq. Ft. Gia and a separate art studio pavilion or alternative ancillary accommodation.

“An extended basement will provide underground car parking, leisure facilities including a cinema, gym and swimming pool.

“The existing buildings are in extremely poor condition and are currently uninhabitable.”

The property boasts excellent links to both transport and schools in the local area with the flat less than a mile away from Northern Line tube stations Highgate and East Finchley.

It comes after the most expensive house in the UK went on sale for an eye-watering £250million.

Located in the heart of London’s Regents Park, the mansion is likely to attract some of the wealthiest buyers in the world.

Meanwhile, a dad revealed his joy at scooping an amazing £3.5m mansion for just £35.

And a terraced property is on sale for just £15,000, although it comes with a catch.
