More than a quarter of millennials (those born 1981 to 1996) say they’d carry out their own works to save on costs rather than paying a professional garage, a new study reveals.

By contrast, fewer than one in five (18 per cent) baby boomers (the post-war generation born between 1946 and 1964 which transformed the world) are willing to get their hands dirty, preferring to seek help from their local workshop.
And those among ‘Gen Z’ (1997 to 2012) old enough to drive are seemingly also willing to muck in, with more than 23 per cent of 17 to 24-year-olds prepared to undertake minor repairs themselves.
The research was carried out by eBay, now the UK’s largest online auto marketplace, selling parts from a vast network of traders.
