Protesters recount how ‘kill the bill’ march escalated into one of the most violent in city’s history

Bea, a 19-year-old student, and her uni friends were among the protesters who attended the “kill the bill” protest in front of the cathedral on College Green in Bristol on Sunday afternoon.

They had been warned they would be breaking Covid restrictions if they turned up but nevertheless, were among up to 3,000 people, many of them in their late teens and in their 20s, who peacefully made clear their disdain for the police, crime and, sentencing and courts bill.
