A Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advisory panel recommended seniors, nursing-home residents and certain adults with underlying medical conditions should receive a booster of Pfizer Inc.’s vaccine, a critical step toward outlining who should be eligible for the extra doses in the coming days.

The panel said people 65 and over as well as those 50 to 64 years with underlying medical conditions should receive a booster.
