Charity says government must do more to tackle childhood obesity with one in three now overweight

Hundreds of children and teenagers in England have type 2 diabetes, data shows, with charities describing the findings as a “worrying wakeup call” and urging that childhood obesity be tackled.

Type 2 diabetes is historically only seen in people over the age of 40, but data for 2019-20 revealed that the condition now affects 1,560 people aged 18 or under.
