THERE are so many streaming apps around these days and it costs an awful lot to subscribe to them all.
Remember, even watching non-live shows on BBC iPlayer isn’t free as you need a TV licence – which goes up from £159 to £169.50 in April.

But there are loads of little-known free on-demand alternatives to try on your Amazon Fire TV Stick brimming with movies and shows.
Here are three worth checking out:
UKTV Play
UKTV is the home of Freeview channels Dave, Drama, W and Yesterday.
The company’s UKTV Play service hosts a number of shows, including classic programmes and foreign imports.

In the classic category you can relive old episodes of EastEnders, The Bill, Casualty and even Spooks.
But UKTV Play has some exclusive shows to the UK as well, including Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over, Outsiders, Australian series The Heart Guy, to name a few.
You’ll need to register an account but it’s free.
Just as a note, UKTV Play is rebranding as U later this year.

Freevee
Freevee is Amazon Prime‘s answer to free content.
It has a number of classic shows and movies, but also a growing roster of originals.
Hollywood Houselift with Jeff Lewis – which has just added a second season – follows the the American interior designer as he goes behind-the-scenes of home renovations of the stars.
For kids, there are movies like Top Cat, All Dogs go to Heaven and Pudsey the Dog: The Movie.
Some of Amazon Prime’s older originals like Bosch season one are available on Freevee too.
Discovery+
Discovery+ may be a paid streaming service but there’s also some hidden free stuff too.
The broadcasting giant says it has content from its Quest, Really, Quest Red, HGTV, Food Network, and DMAX channels available at no cost worth checking out.
