THERE’S a little-known app that could help you save money on your phone bills.

If you have limited data, public Wi-Fi is a good option to avoid having to pay for extra from your mobile network provider.

Fortunately there’s a little-known app that could help.

And it’s especially helpful if you you enter a connection dead zone as well.

The app is called Wi-Fi Map – it’s free to download on iPhone and Android.

Open it and you’ll see all publicly available Wi-Fi hotspots near you right now.

This means can spare your precious data and use the free Wi-Fi instead.

Whether it’s a coffee shop or a McDonald’s, it’ll show you what’s available.

The app claims to have more than 25,000 public Wi-Fi spots listed for England alone.

And there are 150million worldwide, so it could be even more useful on holiday. 

There’s an option to download maps offline before you go out if you want to be extra sure.

Just open the app and tap Wi-Fi Finder.

You can also help others find Wi-Fi networks by listing any that aren’t already on the platform.

Tap the Add Wi-Fi button in the bottom right and follow the instructions.

You earn points for contributions, which can be used for rewards such as ad-free access to the app.
