McDonald’s has quietly rolled out a brand new “saver” breakfast meal deal nationwide, the Sun has learned – and the savings are huge.

The Maccies breakfast menu has remained largely unchanged for years, with the standard ‘meal’ option including a main item, drink and a hash brown.

But the fast-food chain has now quietly rolled out a brand new “Saver” breakfast meal deal where you can opt for just a main item and a hot drink.

The Sun understands the deal is available nationwide and will be in place at least until the end of the year.

As part of the deal, you can pair a regular hot drink with a Cheesy Bacon Flatbread for £2.99 or a single sausage and egg, bacon and egg or egg and cheese McMuffin with a hot drink for £3.49.

Hot drinks available with the deal include a regular flat white, latte, cappuccino, black/white coffee or hot chocolate.

MORE ON MONEY

If you opted for a single McMuffin and a regular latte you would save £2.29 – or 40% – by using the deal rather than buying the items separately, while you would save 89p with the flatbread offer.

However, there is a catch. You need to use the McDonald’s app in order to get the deal and it’s only available for pickup, so you won’t be able to get it delivered.

The new breakfast deal isn’t the only big change to the iconic fast food chain’s menu this month.

Last week, McDonald’s launched its new hot drinks range and fans were impressed by the new flavours on offer.

You can now pick up a Galaxy Caramel Latte or a Galaxy Caramel Hot Chocolate for £2.69 for a regular size or £3.29 for a large.

It’s not all good news, though, as last week the chain hiked the price of its popular £1.99 Food for Thought meal deal to £2.99 – a £1 increase.

You can find your nearest McDonald’s by using its restaurant locator tool on its website – just enter your postcode or nearest town.

The McDonald’s app is available to download for free on the Apple Store and Google Play.

Any orders made on the app collect points which can be used to unlock rewards or redeem free items.

There are also weekly special offers available exclusively to app users.

You can also join our new Sun Money Facebook group to share stories and tips and engage with the consumer team and other group members.
