It’s one of the most popular banking apps across the UK, but it appears that Barclays has gone down this afternoon. 

According to Down Detector, the problems started at around 12:07 BST, and are affected users across the UK. 

So far, more than 2,700 issues have been logged on the website. 

Of those who reported problems, 67 per cent said the issue was with mobile banking, while 31 per cent said they were having problems with online banking. 

Meanwhile, two per cent said the problem was with their account balances.

Barclays has tweeted to confirm the outage. 

It wrote: ‘If you’re having problems logging into our app or Online Banking right now – we’re sorry. 

‘We’re working to fix this and will update you here as soon as possible. 

‘In the meantime, you can still use our automated telephone service as normal. 

‘For updates on all our services, and to request a text when we’re back up and running, search “Barclays service status” online.

‘Thanks for bearing with us.’

Another added: ‘I literally can’t buy myself lunch, please sort this out it’s absolutely ridiculous.’

And one vented: ‘I had to walk away from my scanned and packed shopping in the supermarket today as I couldn’t use my app. This is so embarrassing and here you are consoling us with broken links to your Service Status site. No indication of when this may be resolved. This is unacceptable.’
