KRISPY Kreme is giving away free doughnuts this weekend but you’ll have to be quick.

It comes as part of the chain’s plans to hand out up to 225,000 of the sweet treats this summer as England compete in the World Cup.

Sweet-toothed fans can get hold of a pack of original glazed sharer dozen, which usually sells for £15, and free drink this Saturday when the women’s team takes on Colombia in the quarter final.

Customers just have to show their Rewards app in-store – but only the first 20 to do this will get the freebies.

The Rewards scheme earns you “Smiles” every time you make a purchase. You earn 10 smiles for every £1 spent.

Once you’ve earned enough you can redeem rewards in Krispy Kreme stores and online.

You can download the loyalty scheme on to any smartphone via Google Play or the Apple App Store.

Shoppers also won’t be able to get the freebies in supermarkets such as Tesco and Asda, nor via delivery.

If England reach the semi-final Krispy Kreme will ramp up its offer to 40 free doughnuts and drinks, then 50 in the final.

It comes after Krispy Kreme urgently recalled a product from its summer range after failing to mention peanuts on the label.

The packaging error affected only the White Chocolate and Raspberry Summer four-pack of doughnuts.

It led to food safety watchdogs warning the product posed a “possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to peanuts”.

Plus, a bargain hunter revealed how you can swindle four free doughnuts from the retailer – and all you need is an Easter egg.

In other news, Wilko has plunged into administration, putting 12,000 jobs and 400 stores at risk.

Meanwhile, Walkers has unveiled two new flavours of crisps.

Plus, Aldi shoppers are rushing to buy a £7 dupe of Jo Malone perfume for £111 less.

Krispy Kreme was founded in the USA in 1937 by Vernon Rudolph.

It launched its first UK store in 2003 and now operates 120 locations and has 1,100 in-store cabinets across a number of retail partners.
