Deliveroo has hired Claudia Arney ahead of its hotly anticipated stock market float next year.
Arney, 49, becomes the food delivery company’s first chairman just weeks after it hired investment banks Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan to work on the IPO.
The mother-of-three is best known for being a director at the Premier League, acting as interim chairman until Gary Hoffman was appointed in June this year.

She also holds directorships at Kingfisher, Derwent, Aviva and Halfords. Yesterday she stepped down from a directorship at Ocado, citing conflict of interests as both companies deliver food online.
Educated at Bedales, Oxford and French business school Insea, she began at McKinsey and had stints at Goldman Sachs and FT.com.
Deliveroo is expected to seek a premium listing in London next year with a valuation of several billion pounds.
Will Shu, the company’s chief executive, wants it to have a robust corporate governance framework in place before it lists.
