There’s an extra bank holiday tomorrow on Tuesday, December 27.

And there will also be an added bank holiday on January 2, 2023 due to New Year’s Day falling on a Sunday.

This means that motorists planning a trip over the next few days will need to double check if there’s somewhere that they can fill up along the way.

We’ve rounded up all you need to know about the major petrol stations’ opening hours over the bank holiday.

Sainsbury’s petrol stations

Sainsbury’s petrol stations were shut on Christmas Day.

The majority of the supermarkets fuel stations reopened on Boxing Day for customers to fill up.

Some may see reduced hours for the remainder of the week.

Morrisons petrol stations

Morrisons petrol stations were closed on Christmas day. 

Stations reopened on Boxing Day and will be in operation between 9am to 6pm, normal hours will then resume until New Year’s Eve when they’ll be open from 6.30am to 7.30pm.

Tesco petrol stations

All Tesco filling stations were closed on Christmas Day, just like all stores.

Forecoarts reopened on Boxing Day but with reduced hours.

The major supermarket has urged motorists to check their nearest location to find the exact hours for the rest of the week.

Asda petrol stations

Asda had over 300 filling stations across the country, opening hours for each will vary by location.

Most stations were closed on Christmas Day, but reopened on Boxing Day.

Some have adjusted the hours they’re open over the bank holiday so make sure to check before you travel.

Shell petrol stations

The majority of Shell‘s petrol stations remain open over the Christmas period.

Some may have reduced staffing and opening hours though.

Shell garages that are operated under the Shell name and run independently can set their own opening hours.
