According to Uswitch, the Facebook and Facebook Messenger apps are two of the “biggest drains on our batteries”.

Facebook can run constantly in the background, accessing a wide range of permissions.

This is draining for your iPhone battery even when you think you’re not using your phone that much.

If your iPhone battery drains quickly then apps like Facebook could be part of the problem.

The Facebook app running in the background of your iPhone is designed to be useful.

It can keep your Newsfeed up to date and help with location services.

However, if you don’t use Facebook that much you may not need it to be refreshing all the time.

Luckily, Apple has an easy way to stop an app from refreshing in the background when you’re not using it.

This can be done by going to Settings, then clicking General.

Next, go to Background App Refresh.

From there you can either switch all background app refreshes off.

Alternatively, you can individually select the ones you want to stop from the list, including Facebook or other ‘vampire apps’ like Google and WhatsApp.
