WHEN Dawn retired from her job as a church minister she knew she needed to make some extra income to pay her bills.

Dawn Lacey, 64, a Barnsley, who is also a carer for her father, started a side hustle selling beauty products online and in person.

In the last year she’s increased her takings through her Temple Spa business from £50 to £800 a month.

Dawn, who isn’t eligible for the state pension yet due to her age, revealed why she got into the side hustle on ITV’s Tonight programme.

“Having left the church and being on very low income, I needed to find something that would help me to be able to pay those bills,” she said.

“To be able to even just buy food, or pay for petrol or just to be able to treat our grandchildren.”

Dawn makes her money through commission on the products she sells.

She explained on the show how the business had gone from “strength to strength”.

“I started off because I made £50 a month doing one class a month, but now 12 months later, I’m going to be making £800 this month minimum.

“ I absolutely think it’s an amazing idea for women and men to be able to do something different alongside what they’re doing already.

“Because this is really a great opportunity to meet new people.

“But also, to bring in that extra income, so who wouldn’t want to do it?”

But ITV presenter Adam Shaw, warned others thinking of doing the same thing as Dawn to always check they are getting involved with a reputable company.
