The new hack is called Personalised Spatial Audio and it’s coming in iOS 16.

That’s the new iPhone software announced at Apple’s WWDC 2022 event in June.

It maps your face and tracks your ears to create a personalised directional “spatial audio” system.

This will let you hear noise exactly where it should be coming from in music or movies that support Spatial Audio.

“Personalized Spatial Audio enables an even more precise and immersive listening experience,” said Apple, describing the new iOS feature.

“Listeners can use the TrueDepth camera on iPhone to create a personal profile for Spatial Audio that delivers a listening experience tuned just for them.”

The feature only works on three AirPods models: AirPods 3, AirPods Pro and AirPods Max.

You’ll also need to be running the new iOS 16 update.

How to activate Personalised Spatial Audio

First, make sure you’re running iOS 16 (even in beta) on an iPhone that has Face ID.

Read our guide on how to join the iOS 16 beta.

Now make sure your AirPods are connected to the iPhone and then go into Settings.

Go into Bluetooth and then tap on the “i” symbol next to AirPods Pro.

Next choose Spatial Audio and then Personalised Spatial Audio.
