Virgin Media is scrapping its unfair exit fees for home movers in a major victory for Money Mail.
Thousands of customers have been caught out by cancellation fees of up to £240 when moving to properties that cannot be connected to the Virgin network.
But from today, they will no longer have to pay to ditch their contract early.

To avoid the penalty, they will need to provide proof of their new address — by sending a copy of a mortgage agreement, rental contract or utility bill.
Home movers who have already told the firm they wish to cancel but have not yet paid the penalty can call and ask for it to be waived.
However, customers will not be refunded for fees already paid. Charges to cancel a contract still apply if you move to an area where a Virgin service is available.
Money Mail has repeatedly called on the firm to bin the charges following scores of complaints from furious readers.
Jeff Dodds, chief operating officer of Virgin Media O2, says: ‘We know moving home can be a stressful, so we’re giving our customers one less thing to worry about.’
