Downtown Bellingham is about 15 minutes away by car, with casual restaurants, quirky shops and breweries producing craft beer. The city’s ferry terminal, about 10 minutes away, is the place to catch boats departing for the San Juan Islands, British Columbia and Alaska.

Indoors: A gate at street level opens to a driveway leading down to the house. The front entrance is set in a covered porch with a wood deck.

From the entryway, steps lead down to an open living area with an electric fireplace, floor-to-ceiling windows facing the backyard and the bay beyond, and Bordeaux pine floors installed during a 2019 gut renovation. To the left of the sitting area is space for a dining table, with more seats at the center island in the adjacent kitchen, which has stainless steel appliances, custom wood cabinets and white-stone countertops.

Off the right side of the foyer is a hallway that leads to the three bedrooms. The primary suite, at the far end, has another electric fireplace, glass doors that open to a private part of the rear deck and a bathroom with heated tile floors, a stone soaking tub that sits under a chandelier imported from Italy, and a separate shower.

The two other bedrooms are spacious; one currently serves as a home office, and the other as a den. They share a bathroom with a walk-in shower and a long vanity with two sets of drawers.

From this part of the house, a staircase leads to the lower level, set up as a comfortable media space with a built-in bar, a powder room and a wine storage room with space for several racks.

Outdoor space: An expansive wood deck in back of the house has covered and uncovered sections, with views of the bay and, in the distance, the San Juan Islands. A fire table in the uncovered area has room for chairs surrounding it; a fireplace beneath a roof overhang is the focal point of an outdoor dining spot. Beyond the deck is a large lawn.

Taxes: $24,228 (estimated)
