So have you been using them wrong this whole time?

Of course, there are no strict rules with emoji, it’s all about interpretation.

Though it might prevent embarrassing misunderstandings in future.

The kiss emoji

Kiss or whistle?

Most people use this emoji to convey a kiss.

But according to Bobby, that’s not entirely right.

“It actually symbolises whistling,” he claims.

The punch emoji

Punch or respect?

That angry moment when you thought the fist emoji represented a punch, may have actually conveyed the opposite.

Despite popular belief, Bobby says it is not a punch at all.

“The right-facing fist isn’t a punch but actually a symbol for respect,” he reveals.

The prayer emoji

Prayer or high five?

Most people treat the hands held together in the air as a prayer, or similarly as a gesture of immense gratitude.

But apparently, that’s not entirely the case.

“It can also be used as a symbol for high five,” Bobby says.

The pointing down emoji

Look down or feeling down?

Next time someone sends you a pointing down emoji, it might be worth checking in on them.

That’s because it does not always mean look down.

It can also be used as a sign for being under the weather or feeling down.
