USING the default ‘Radar’ alarm on an iPhone can be a painful experience.

Some of Apple’s other alarm options are equally abrasive but your device does have a ‘secret section’ containing much gentler alarm noises.

The painful noise of an iPhone alarm is a running joke online, with an array of tweets and memes describing it as traumatic.

One Twitter user recently wrote: “The iPhone alarm truly is traumatic.”

Another said: “iPhone alarm so traumatizing for no reason.”

Another person tweeted: “I hate hearing the iPhone alarm sound. It makes me irrationally angry.”

All those Twitter users and the many more distressed iPhone fans need to try using iPhone’s ‘Sleep’ alarm.

The iPhone Sleep feature is supposed to help you wind down for sleep and wake you up gently.

You can access the Sleep feature via your iPhone’s Health app.

Click “Browse” and then “Sleep”.

You’ll then need to click “Set Up Sleep” and follow the instructions.

You’ll be able to set up a “Wind Down” phase for your phone as well as choosing the all important peaceful alarm of your choice.

You need to click “Full Schedule & Options” and then “Edit” below your newly set schedule.

The click “Sounds & Haptics” and you’ll be able to browse the nine Sleep alarm options before picking one you like.

Early Riser is the default Sleep alarm sound and it’s much more peaceful than the widely detested Radar noise.

It’s unclear why Apple only keeps the softer alarm sounds in the Sleep section and not in the general iPhone alarm settings.
