ONE of 2023’s biggest games is right around the corner, and people are eager to jump into the action.
In a year of Baldur’s Gate 3, and Tears of the Kingdom, it doesn’t feel like games can get even better, but one is going to try.

A Microsoft exclusive, only those playing on Xbox or Windows PC will have the chance to experience Starfield’s massive open world.
If you want to make sure you can play as soon as possible and avoid spoilers, then here are some tips you need to know.
When can I start playing Starfield on PC?
Starfield is a huge game and has the file size to match. With a file size of around 125GB it will take some time to install.
If you pre-ordered Starfield via the Microsoft Store, then pre-loads began yesterday on August 17.
This means you can begin downloading it straight away, and it will be installed ready for launch.
However, if you pre-ordered via Steam, you won’t be able to pre-load your game until August 31.
This leaves a tight window in which to install the game and start playing if you ordered the Premium Edition or the Constellation Edition.
Both of these editions give you five days early access to Starfield, and will let you play from September 1.

If you’re an Xbox Game Pass subscriber, you’ll be able to play for free a week later and you can already pre-load the game too.
When can I start playing Starfield on Xbox?
If you preorder the version from the Microsoft Store it includes both the PC and Xbox version of the game.
It makes sense then that the pre-load Starfield from the same date, on August 17.
The file size is similarly bulky too, so you will need to make sure you clear enough space from your console in order for it to download.
In particular Xbox Series S owners will need to make sure they have around 50% of their console’s storage available.
The console version also has a Premium and Constellation Edition meaning that the earliest access date is September 1.
If you have pre-ordered the Standard Edition you will have to wait until September 6 in order to gain access.
